THERE ARE ONLY THREE CATEGORIES OF NUTRIENTS
It is important at this point that you are clear that MegaFood is not saying that any form of nutrient is invalid or doesn?t work. What we are trying to convey to the customer is that there are
DIFFERENT forms of nutrients. When the customer is informed of the differences in these nutrients he/she will choose the form that is right for him/her.
1. Regular Vitamins and Minerals were originally created as drugs to solve nutritional deficiency disease problems such as scurvy, beriberi, rickets and pellagra. These nutrients have to
be consumed in large quantities in order to receive the intended result. This is directly related to the low absorption rates of nutrients in the regular form (USP or crystalline). Nutrients
are not found in this form in nature. They are created in a Chemist?s lab (vitamins) or are isolated from crushed rock or oyster shells (minerals). This doesn?t mean that these forms of nutrients
lack nutritive value. They can provide basic nutritional needs for our customers. This isolated form of vitamins and minerals is not found anywhere in nature.
2. Food Based Nutrients are delivered as a physical mix. That is, no attachment exists between the nutrient and the food except that they are delivered in the same tablet. Food Based delivery
greatly enhances the body?s ability to utilize nutrients. Nutrients cannot be delivered to the cells without specific messengers attached.
These messengers, Essential Food Factors, naturally occur in whole foods. Delivering a food base with regular vitamins and minerals is an energy saving process. The body doesn?t waste vital
energy stores to transform the regular vitamins and minerals into absorbable nutrients. The necessary messengers are present in the food base. Ascorbic Acid is a good example of a regular
vitamin that has been highly studied and demonstrates enhanced utilization when the nutrient is delivered with bioflavonoids, hesperidin and rutin. The utilization factor can be increased
by as much as 3 to 5 times (from 10% for regular vitamins to 30 - 50% for FoodBased).
This food based form of vitamins and minerals is not found anywhere in nature.
3. Food Nutrients are in a state (form) that is found in Food. That is, the specific nutrient is attached to a myriad of phyto-nutrients. No nutrient in its natural state exists in an isolated
form. NUTRIENTS IN FOOD ALWAYS HAVE ATTACHMENTS. Those attachments are co-factors, vital food factors, which facilitate the body?s natural ability to recognize and use that nutrient. Food
is the structure in which all nutrients were intended to be delivered and utilized by the human physiology. Humans were intended to receive their nutrition from Food. Food is the complex
form in which all nutrients are found in nature.
